What the bridge does

Community project · documentation reviewed, not locally tested. ComfyUI–PhotoCraft Bridge ↗ supplies two ComfyUI nodes: Get Image reads a flattened document and selection mask; Send Image returns a result as a new layer.

It uses PhotoCraft’s local control channel and a shared folder. It is not a PhotoCraft WASM filter. A compatible image-editing or inpainting workflow and its model files must already be available in ComfyUI.

1. Install and connect

  1. Install PhotoCraft desktop and confirm ComfyUI can run a simple workflow on its own.
  2. In ComfyUI-Manager, search for PhotoCraft Bridge, or follow the repository’s manual installation instructions.
  3. Restart ComfyUI. The bridge creates an exchange folder and prints a PhotoCraft startup command in the console.
  4. Start PhotoCraft with that exact platform-specific command. It enables the control channel, token file and read/write roots for the exchange folder.

The documented default exchange folder is ~/photocraft-bridge (under your user profile on Windows). Keep the control endpoint local and do not share the token file. The author’s README is the source of truth for launch flags and current requirements.

2. Try one small round trip

  1. Open a duplicate image in PhotoCraft and create a selection.
  2. Add the bridge’s Get Image and Send Image nodes to your working ComfyUI graph.
  3. Connect Get’s image to the image-processing workflow, and the processed image to Send. Connect Get’s target to Send’s target so the result returns to the correct document.
  4. For a selection workflow, enable crop_to_selection and choose padding to include useful surrounding context.
  5. Press Queue in ComfyUI. Inspect the new layer in PhotoCraft, toggle its visibility and confirm placement and edges.

Begin with the repository’s example_workflows folder. Each example may need additional models or nodes; inspect those requirements before running it. A prompt can be taken from a document note.

If no image comes back

  • Connection fails: confirm PhotoCraft was started with the bridge-generated command, not an ordinary app shortcut.
  • Missing nodes or model: fix the ComfyUI graph independently before retrying the bridge.
  • Wrong position: verify the target connection and keep the destination document open.
  • Wrong masked area: check Quick Mask semantics and the bridge’s invert_mask setting.
  • Folder or token error: compare port, token path, shared folder and automation roots with the README.

Record both app versions, the bridge revision and the exact error when reporting an issue. This integration does not establish full Photoshop Generative Fill parity.
