The short answer
The official PhotoCraft plug-in host does not load native Photoshop .8BF, CEP or UXP extensions. Its plug-ins are sandboxed WebAssembly filter modules using the PhotoCraft API. A similar editing interface does not make Photoshop extension code compatible.
This conclusion comes from the upstream plug-in documentation checked on October 12, 2026. No commercial Photoshop extension has been tested by this site.
Compare resource types
| Resource | What to expect |
|---|---|
| .8BF / CEP / UXP | Not supported by the documented PhotoCraft plug-in host. |
| PhotoCraft .wasm filter | Must implement the PhotoCraft API; an arbitrary WASM file is not enough. |
| PSD template | A document, not a plug-in. Check layers, text, smart objects and saved results. |
| .cube / .3dl / .look LUT | Documented Color Lookup formats; test the actual file and input profile. |
| ComfyUI bridge | Separate ComfyUI nodes using the control channel, not a native Photoshop extension. |
Find an alternative by task
- A color look: first check built-in adjustments or the LUT guide.
- A reusable layout: start with the template source directory and verify PSD editability.
- AI image editing: examine the community ComfyUI bridge and its requirements.
- A custom pixel filter: use the official WASM API and source example.
None of these guarantees a drop-in replacement for a particular commercial plug-in. Write down the required task and compare a small, repeatable output before moving a production workflow.
Keep the original workflow recoverable
Preserve the original PSD and the Photoshop environment needed to edit plug-in-dependent content. Work on a copy, compare the visible render and inspect whether the underlying effect remains editable. A document that opens successfully may still contain an effect PhotoCraft cannot re-run.
Do not rename an extension to .wasm or copy a Photoshop plug-ins folder into PhotoCraft expecting conversion. A compatible implementation must be written for the host API.
